The Lichthouse is more than a place to watch the sun go down. It’s one of Watamu’s best-loved sunset spots … and also one of the easiest to get to at the wrong time, from the wrong angle, or without knowing where to actually stand. Sunset times shift through the season and the light here changes fast, so we take care of the timing, the transport and the return. You simply arrive, relax, and enjoy the moment.
We collect you from your hotel at approximately 3:00 pm. Along the way, your local driver can show you some of the coastal surroundings and share a little of everyday Watamu … the kind of place, story or small local detail you’d otherwise drive straight past, and one you won’t find in a guidebook.
At the Lichthouse area, there’s time to explore, walk along the coast and take in the views. We know this stretch of coast well, so we plan the timing so you’re there exactly as the afternoon turns into golden hour, when the colours of the Indian Ocean really start to change. No logistics to think about, no rushing, no wondering if you picked the right spot – you just show up and enjoy.
For guests who want something more special, we can arrange a Special Occasion Experience with flowers, tropical fruits, refreshments, decoration or a special setup. These are things that are hard to organise on your own, especially on short notice or from abroad … our local connections let us prepare them in advance, so everything is ready when you arrive. Ideal for honeymoons, anniversaries, birthdays or proposals.
After sunset, we take you back to your hotel, arriving at approximately 7:00 pm.
