FROM CITY STREETS TO SAFARI TRAILS

Discover a fascinating combination of culture, history, spectacular beaches, and wildlife

Wake up to breakfast before diving into the buzz of Mombasa … a guided tour through bustling markets, colourful streets, and centuries-old landmarks. Savour authentic coastal flavours over lunch at a local favourite, then step back in time at the iconic Fort Jesus.

As the day winds down, we head south to the postcard-perfect beaches of Diani … powder-white sand, turquoise water, and nothing on the agenda but relaxation.

The next morning starts before the sun does. We set off for Shimba Hills National Reserve, pausing for a light breakfast at a breathtaking viewpoint before an exhilarating game drive through one of Kenya’s most stunning coastal wildernesses.

Must dos in Mombasa

Discover Old Town on a guided walk and wander through centuries-old streets filled with carved doors, coral stone houses, and traces of Swahili, Arab, and Portuguese history.

Dive into the lively chaos of Mombasa’s markets, where spices, fabrics, and street life create a vivid sensory experience.

Taste coastal specialties for lunch. Like grilled seafood, coconut curries, and chapati in an authentic local setting.

Discover a UNESCO World Heritage Fort Jesus that tells the story of Mombasa’s colonial history and strategic importance on the East African coast.

See the iconic aluminum tusks built to commemorate Queen Elizabeth’s visit and snap a quick photo at this famous landmark.

Round off the day at Diani Beach

In the late afternoon, Diani Beach reveals its quietest and perhaps most beautiful side. The light turns soft and golden as the sun slowly sinks over the Indian Ocean, casting long shadows across the white sand. Boats return from the sea, and the ocean grows noticeably calmer, almost meditative.

In the evening, the coastline transforms into a relaxed tropical atmosphere. Small beach bars and restaurants begin to glow, often accompanied by music and the sound of the waves

Early morning excursion to Shimba Hills National Reserve

Shimba Hills National Reserve lies just a short drive from the coast and offers a completely different landscape of rolling green hills and dense tropical forest. It is a quiet, less-crowded safari destination where nature feels close and unspoiled.

The reserve is home to rich wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, and the rare sable antelope, which is one of its highlights. Its elevated location also provides refreshing coastal breezes and beautiful panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.

A visit often includes a walk to Sheldrick Falls, a hidden waterfall reached through lush forest trails. The combination of scenery, wildlife, and tranquility makes Shimba Hills a refreshing contrast to the beaches nearby.
